About Your Practitioner

Courtney LaCava, founder of Dakini Ayurveda, is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist, Massage Therapist, Certified Yoga Teacher, and Panchakarma Specialist. She is also a member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association and serves on the Board of Directors of The Californian Association of Ayurvedic Medicine (CAAM). Courtney completed her training with Dr. Marc Halpern at California College of Ayurveda, the longest running, state-approved Ayurvedic Medicine college and professional training program for the study of Ayurveda and Pancha Karma in America. She has received mentorship in Ayurveda and women’s health from Dr. Claudia Welch and has also had the honor of studying pulse diagnosis with Dr. Vasant Lad at The Ayurvedic Institute. Courtney has been a dedicated practitioner of yoga and meditation for over 12 years.

Courtney’s journey towards Ayurveda began in 1999 with her first yoga class. Turning inward through yoga awakened a profound realization of the body’s innate capacity to heal itself through a life of balance. During a yoga teacher training course in 2006, in one profound and unforgettable instant, her teacher began to paint the world of human experience in familiar colors through the enlightened concepts of Ayurveda. Not long after, Courtney began her formal studies at California College of Ayurveda. In addition to her Ayurvedic and Yogic studies, she holds a masters degree from UC San Diego.

Though not a Californian by birth, she is a Californian at heart, living in the great state since 1998.
